A few words about project structure

08/05/2020

By definition, a project is a temporary endeavor that delivers a unique product or service. A typical feature is its constant refinement, improvement over time.

In small and larger enterprises, we often deal with various types of projects. How we approach its implementation is of course an individual matter. However, in order to facilitate this process and make it run efficiently and at the same time not cost us too much, the field of project management was developed.

In project management, structures and roles are very important to stick to. We are together in the team, we all play for one goal - because despite the fact that there are many roles, they all want to achieve the same goal.

Below is a simplified team structure and the tasks of individual team members

Sponsor

The person who has the resources and it is he or she who most often decides that a given project starts - thus setting its goal. In a way, the sponsor facilitates the project task, because he paves the way, sets the direction and, above all, organizes the money that will allow this project to be carried out.

Manager

His main role is to coordinate and supervise the team, he also guards the way to the goal. In the event of any distractions or loss of motivation, the project manager intervenes, restoring the work rhythm.

The project team

That is, a group of people who are directly involved in the implementation of the project task. It is important that the team knows the intent and purpose of the project they are dealing with. Then experts in a given field can come up with interesting suggestions on how to act.

All these roles are equally important and crucial for the project, because if one of them is missing, the design process will not run properly. Once we have a group of people who want to undertake specific activities that make up the project, it is worth considering what this team needs to operate effectively

Goal

Clarifying it will give us a clear message where, as a team, we want to go and what we want to achieve. A very important point in the case of distraction - it helps to get back on the right track.

Plan

A very simple matter by definition - how we will achieve our goal. In practice, we will certainly encounter difficulties in its implementation. Therefore, it is important not only to carefully design it, but also to be flexible in case of failure.

Systematic evaluation

To check that the project team and its work are going in the right direction. This step is obligatory - it often happens that during the activities on a project, new responsibilities arise, we start working on another task, distracting ourselves and losing efficiency. Regular supervision helps to keep the rhythm.

As you can see, in management, both the roles and all steps are closely related to each other, creating the foundations of a good project. However, if you want everything to run smoothly, you cannot forget about cooperation and communication.
